iPhone 2 Released

Following scarcely believable rumours that the iPad 3 could be released a scant six months after the iPad 2, a fresh report has claimed that an interim device labeled the iPhone 2 Plus could be launched in time for Christmas. Read on for more details.
FBR Capital Markets analyst Craig Berger has told clients that “there are some indications from the supply chain that Apple may look to introduce an ‘iPad 2 Plus’ device.” Berger believes that Apple has been requesting quotes from manufacturers to construct a “marginally different device,” although there’s been no solid production schedule set.

So how would the iPad 2 Plus differ from the the popular iPad 2? As was hinted at around the time of the iPad 2′s release, Apple may have been unable to implement the high-def Retina display-like screen it wanted due to manufacturing constraints. It’s perhaps unsurprising, then, to hear Berger’s claims that the iPad 2 Plus’s big new feature is a high def screen that boosts the pixels per inch (ppi) from 132 to around 300.
While the thought of a new iPad device, possibly coinciding with the release of the iPhone 5, is an intriguing one, Berger is quick to sound a note of caution. “While we find this new commentary interesting,” he says, “we await more confirming data points from other supply chain contacts before fully believing a new iPad device is coming in 2011″.
